  3. Identification of Alternatives: Successfully identified and sourced alternative or substitute components and suppliers, mitigating the risk of obsolescence and securing the supply chain for critical parts.

  4. Development of RV Obsolescence Management Plan (OMP): Drafted a strategic OMP tailored to the Rooivalk program, outlining ongoing obsolescence monitoring and management procedures.

  5. RV Obsolescence Risk Mitigation Proposals: Formulated and presented risk mitigation strategies to proactively address potential obsolescence challenges, safeguarding the program against future disruptions.

  6. Assessment of RV Depot Level Supportability: Evaluated the support infrastructure at the depot level to ensure it meets the requirements for maintaining the Rooivalk fleet over its lifecycle.

  7. RV Depot Level Support Strategies: Developed and implemented strategies to enhance depot-level support capabilities, including adopting new technologies and processes for improved efficiency and reliability.

  8. Implementation of an Obsolescence Management Database: Established a dedicated OM Database for the RV program, enabling efficient tracking and management of obsolescence-related information and actions.

  9. Obsolescence Awareness Initiatives: Delivered presentations to critical stakeholders, including management, logistics, and engineering groups, to raise awareness and understanding of obsolescence challenges and solutions.

  10. Test and Support Equipment Obsolescence Mitigation: Provided support to address and resolve obsolescence issues affecting test and support equipment, ensuring uninterrupted operational support capabilities.

  11. Solutions for Diverse Obsolete Components: Offered expert guidance and solutions for a wide range of obsolete components and equipment, demonstrating our ability to tackle complex obsolescence issues across various systems and technologies.

  12. Guidance on OM Program Implementation: Advised on implementing various OM programs, sharing best practices and lessons learned to enhance the effectiveness of obsolescence management efforts across the client's operations.

Landward Systems - Collaborations with SA Army, DENEL, and related Defence Industries

Objective: To enhance obsolescence awareness and implement robust Obsolescence Management (OM) programs across various landward defence systems, ensuring operational readiness and long-term sustainability. Key Activities and Achievements:

  1. Obsolescence Awareness Initiatives: Conducted detailed obsolescence awareness and OM presentations across multiple management levels within the SA Army, DENEL, and various related industries to enable an informed understanding of obsolescence challenges and solutions.

  2. OM Programme Implementation: Successfully planned and implemented the OM Programme for the SA Army, integrating obsolescence management strategies into their operational framework to mitigate risks and enhance supportability.

  3. Ground-Based Air Defence System Requirements: Defined contractual requirements specifically tailored to address obsolescence in Ground-Based Air Defence Systems.

  4. Project MUHALI and TOPSTAR (GV6 Obsolescence Upgrade):

  • Developed an Obsolescence Management Plan (OMP) specifically for GV6 PS, Project MUHALI, and Project TOPSTAR, outlining a strategic approach to managing obsolescence risks.

  • Conducted comprehensive obsolescence and related supportability risk assessments, providing a detailed evaluation of potential vulnerabilities within these projects.

  • Compiled obsolescence and related supportability risk status reports, offering real-time insights into the obsolescence landscape of these critical projects.

  • Undertook studies on obsolescence and related supportability risk mitigation options, identifying viable strategies to address and prevent obsolescence-related issues.

  • Formulated a detailed Obsolescence and Related Supportability Risk Mitigation Plan, establishing a roadmap for mitigating risks associated with obsolescence.

  • Executed MUHALI Phase 1B Obsolescence and related supportability risk mitigation Project Study and subsequent reporting, enhancing the project's resilience against obsolescence

  • Support the SA Army Project Team and Armscor Programme Manager to present and motivate the GV6 obsolescence upgrade as part of Project MUHALI and TOPSTAR.

  • Support DENEL Land Systems (DLS) as a strategic subcontractor in managing the implementation and execution of the obsolescence upgrades.

Comprehensive Risk Assessments Across SA Army Systems:

  1. Evaluated obsolescence and supportability risks for a wide range of SA Army Product Systems, including Weapon Management Systems, Communication Systems, Weapon Control and Command, Artillery and Infantry systems, Tactical Intelligence, and various Armoured and Support Vehicles, among others.

  2. Specialised Services to various projects and clients:

  • Conducted Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECAS) to identify potential failure modes and their impacts on operational performance.

  • Undertook Maintenance Engineering Analysis (MEA) and Reliability Modelling to enhance maintenance strategies and predict system reliability.

  • Performed Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and Product Breakdown Definition to streamline maintenance processes and define product hierarchies.

  • Developed comprehensive Obsolescence Management Plans and conducted related supportability risk studies, offering strategic insights into effectively managing and mitigating obsolescence risks.

  • Supported various SA Army projects to correct their Product Breakdown Structures and the required LSA data and to import the respective LSA Records (LSAR) into the SA Army’s Management Information System (CALMIS) for operational utilization.
